OBITUARY

Mr. Richard Dale KELLY, age 69, of 309 East Market Street, Tampico, Illinois died Saturday morning, March 17, 1990 in CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Mr. KELLY was born on March 21, 1920 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Richard and Evadne HELLIER KELLY. He was united in marriage to Ruth McKENZIE on July 10, 1941 in Tampico, Illinois.

He graduated from Tampico High School in 1938 and also graduated from Scovill Business College in Sterling, Illinois. He farmed for a short time with his father and was an assistant cashier at Tampico National Bank in 1947 when the bank was established.  He was elected president of Tampico National Bank in 1970 and he served as chief executive officer of the bank until his retirement in 1984.

He was a charter member of Tampico Lions Club, member of Rock River Country Club, member of Tampico American Legion Post No. 574, served in the U. S. Nay during WWII and served as president of the Whiteside County Bankers Association.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Tampico, one son, Day Kelly of Tampico, one daughter, Mrs. Tim (Margot) DOWNEY of Vernon Hills, Illinois; his mother, Evadne KELLY of Tampico; one granddaughter, Faith KELLY of Tampico; five grandsons, Michael and Isaiah KELLY both of Tampico and Stephen, David, and Daniel DOWNEY all of Vernon Hills, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his father and one son in infancy.
