Elenora E. Batten, age 89, of 215 S. Benton Street, Tampico, Illinois, died Sunday, April 30, 1995 at her home in Tampico.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 2 at 11 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico with Rev. Anna Novak, pastor of Tampico United Methodist Church and Houston Miller co-officiating. Burial will be in the Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, May 1, from 5-8 p.m. in the Garland Funeral Home, Tampico. A memorial has been established in her memory to the Whiteside County Hospice.
Mrs. Batten was born on February 23, 1906 in Neponset, Illinois, the daughter of Rudolph and Mary Bertha Brose Beyer. She was united in marriage to James Oliver Batten on January 22, 1929 in Kewanee, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on August 12, 1985. She was employed for many years as a bookkeeper at numerous places including Tampico Memorial Cemetery and as the Tampico Village Water Clerk. She was a member of the Church of Peace in Kewanee, Illinois.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Kuepker of Flanagan, Illinois, Mrs. Houston (Rosalie) Miller of Loami, Illinois, Joyce Sandrock of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. Jerry (Rita) Wetzell Beranek of Rock Falls, Illinois; three sons, Lowell (Mary Ann) Batten, Howard (Patricia) Batten, and Lawrence (Rose) Batten, all of Tampico, Illinois; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, one sister and one great-grandchild.
