Mr. Gale Miller, age 79, of 307 E. Kimball Street, Tampico, Illinois, died Friday, October 13, 2000, in CGH Medical Center in Sterling, Illinois.

Mr. Miller was born on May 26, 1921 in Stanhope, Iowa, the son of Arville G. and Jessie M. Craig Miller. He was united in marriage to Iola V. Fortune on December 6, 1940 at Webster City, Iowa. H served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and he was employed at Northwestern Steel & Wire Company in Sterling for 39 years and retired in 1978. He was also employed by the village of Tampico for many years and was involved in digging hundreds of graves in local cemeteries for many years.

He is survived by his wife Iola of Tampico; two sons, Gary (Bev) Miller of Morrison, Illinois and Pete Miller of Tampico; three daughters, Mrs. Patsy (Ronald) Sharp of Tampico of Tampico; Donna Johnson of rock Falls, Illinois; and Mrs. Karen (Tom) Hall of Tampico; 19 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; two sisters, Ardella Herzog of Bell Flower, California; and Mrs. Rosella (Robert) Flaus of Woolstock, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Linda and Edith; one son, Billy Gale; two brothers, Virgil and Doyle; one sister, Vona; and three grandchildren, Lisa, Tommy and Lori Ann.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico with Rev. Les Funderburg, pastor of the First Open Bible Church in Sterling, officiating. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.  in the Garland Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in his memory.
