Prophetstown: - David James "DJ" Bryan, 14, of 115 W. 3rd St., Prophetstown died Sunday evening at Community General Hospital in Sterling as a result of injuries sustained in an accidental shooting.
 
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the United Methodist Church in Prophetstown with Rev. Bruce Janes, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. There will be no visitation.
 
A memorial has been established for United For Our Schools Organization in Prophetstown.
 
David was born on July 2, 1971 in Clinton, Ia., the son of Dr. Sherwood D. and Judith Hilton Bryan of Prophetstown. He was educated in Prophetstown-Lyndon Unit 3 School District and was presently enrolled as a freshman at Prophetstown High School.   The deceased was a member of the United Methodist Church of Prophetstown, the High School Church School Class, the Prophetstown High School Band and the Boy Scouts of America Troop 94 in Prophetstown.
 
Survivors include his parents, Dr. Sherwood and Judith Bryan of Prophetstown;  one sister, Tania of Peoria;  one brother, Michael of Lexington Park, Md.; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Hilton of Waupaca, Wis., and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bryan of Rockford.
