Mildred Hansen


SHEFFIELD — Mildred Leora Hansen, 94, of Sheffield died at 5:05 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2008, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.

Born Jan. 9, 1914, in Manlius to Robert and Mabel Louise (Krager) Van Deusen, she married Lester W. Hansen Nov. 15, 1941, in Galesburg. He died March 19, 1993.

She was a graduate of Manlius High School and attended beauty school. She owned and operated a beauty shop in Sheffield and later in her home. She won awards and ribbons in both roller skating and horseback riding. She won her last ribbon at a horse show at the age of 90.

Surviving are one sister, Madalyn (Pete) Primo of Sheffield; one niece, Karen (Larry) Lauritzen of Ohio, Ill.; one uncle, Charles Krager of Amboy; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Caryll Van Deusen; and one nephew, Russell Swanson.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Private burial will be in the Sheffield Cemetery, Sheffield.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be directed to the Humane Society, Friends of Strays or the Sheffield Rescue Squad.

The Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Wyanet is in charge of arrangements.
