Prophetstown: - Eva M. Brown, 72, died Saturday at Community General Hospital in Sterling.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Prophetstown with Rev. Bruce Janes, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Gardner Chapel in Prophetstown.  A memorial fund has been established.
 
Mrs. Brown was born Dec. 12, 1912 in Sandoval, the daughter of Samuel and Jennie Crane Tate.  On June 12, 1912 she married Everette Brown of Prophetstown.  Mrs. Brown resided all of her married life in Prophetstown and was active in scouting programs, serving as den mother for many years.  The deceased was a member and past worthy matron of Minerva Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, a very active member of the United Methodist church, WSCF of the church and taught Sunday school for many years.
 
Survivors include a son, Nate Brown of Marion, Ia.;  five grandchildren and one brother, Victor Tate of Kewanee.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Arvin.
