EMMA M. EGAN TAKEN BY DEATH


Funeral services for Mrs. Emma M. Egan of Hahnaman Township, were held Monday morning in St. Mary's church, Tampico, following a short service in the Ross funeral home of Walnut. The rosary was recited Sunday evening in the funeral home. Reverend A. M. Weitekamp conducted the funeral mass.

Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery. Pallbearers were Clarence McGuire of Mason city, Ia., Roland Devine, Leo Potts and Cecil Dawson of Sterling, Russell Welch of Rock Falls and billy Devine of Tampico.

Mrs. Egan, daughter of John and Anna Kennedy Welch, was born Nov. 23, 1878 in Hahnaman township. She received her education in the rural school and Our Lady of Angels academy at Lyons, Ia. She also attended Northern Illinois State Teachers college at DeKalb and taught in the rural schools of Hahnaman township for several years.

On February 21, 1906, she was united in marriage with John L. Egan in St. Brendan's church, Chicago. She is survived by her husband; one son, Vincent Egan of Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Roy (Florence) Sharp of Deer Grove; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. H. C. Potts of Oak Park; and three brothers, James of Rock Falls, John of Deer Grove and Charles of Galesburg.

She was preceded in death by three sons John, Thomas and Charles; three sisters, Joanna Welch, Mrs. P. J. McGuire and Mrs. John Devine; and two brothers, Edward and Thomas Welch.

She was a member of the Altar and Rosary society of St Mary's church, Tampico, and of the royal Neighbors of America.
