Tampico Tornado - Feb. 4, 1910
4 Feb 1910

This firm is composed of Albert Ferris, and William J. Love.

Mr. Ferris was born in Franklin county, Indiana, coming to Whiteside county when twelve years of age. As a young man he engaged in farming, later entering the live stock business in connection with his farming operations.

Mr. Love was born in Greene country, Pennsylvania, and came to Whiteside county in 1852. He also early engaged in farming, which he has continued ever since in connection with the buying of live stock in which business he has been engaged for the past thirty years.

Ten years ago these gentlemen joined forces, forming the firm of Ferris and Love. They have been the foremost stock buyers in this locality ever since, their operations covering a wide radius around Tampico.

They buy cattle, hogs, and sheep, shipping principally to the Chicago market. They bought over $15,000 worth of hogs during the year just close, together with a large number of cattle, and sheep. They report 1909 as having been a good average year in the live stock trade. They pay the highest market prices for good stock, and will continue the same fair treatment to their patrons in the future as they have accorded them in the past.

Both these gentlemen are among the early pioneers of this section, and have borne their part in the evolution which has brought Tampico and vicinity to its present modern estate.
