Les Niemi has submitted information on the Renner family. When I was a child, Doris Wroten lived on the street behind our house and every year during the summer her grandsons Robert and (I believe) Bill Renner would come and stay with her. They were good friends of mine and we had much fun playing together. Are they any relation to the Renners you submitted?

I am not sure; however, I have a Dora RUSSELL who married Robert WROTEN. They had 7 children: George, Glen, Edward, Frank, Lillie Bell, Bessie and Grace who married a RENNER, per George's Obit:

DEATH OF GEORGE M. WROTEN
George M. WROTEN a former resident of Tampico who has been farming near Clear Lake, South Dakota, for the past two years, died at his home there last Sunday after a weeks sickness of influenza. The remains arrived here Wednesday morning and the funeral services will be arranged later with burial at the Whithington cemetery. Rev. BARBER pastor of the Baptist church will officiate.
George is survived and mourned by his mother Dora WROTEN, brother Glenn who is in France, on sister Grace RENNER and two half-brothers, Edwin and Frank. The father and one sister, Bessie have preceded him in death.

The sad news was received here the first of the week that George WROTEN of Clear Lake, S. Dakota, had died of the effects of influenza, at his home there. We understand that the body is to be brought here this week Wednesday for burial. Mr. WROTEN is well known here, having only been up north for a few years farming for himself. The friends here extend their sympathy to the bereaved family.

Robert Wroten was probably the husband of the Dora (I remembered it as Doris) Wroten. The Robert and Bill Renner that I knew were her grandchildren.

Robert Renner (1918-1997) and William Renner (c. 1920-1962) were the sons of Grace Wroten Renner (1897-1982). These Renners, like most Renners of Whiteside and Bureau County, descend from John Renner and Margaret Miller of Greene Co., Pennsylvania and John's father George Renner (d. 1800) of Frederick Co., Virginia.
