Today, May 17, 2008, is Armed Forces Day. Created in 1949, it is a day (the 3rd Saturday of May) set aside to honor those men and women enlisted and serving to protect our life, liberty and persuit of happiness. We honor and are proud of all those serving today here and around the world.

Such was the case in 1918, before Congress created and the President signed this day of honor into law:
