Searching for Elmyra Catherine LaRue's family. She was born 13 May 1863 in Fulton to James C. and Emma Engel LaRue. She married William Horace Hummel 24 Feb 1886 in Luverne, Rock, Minnesota. She died 16 Oct 1919 in Cumberland, Barron, Wisconsin at her daughter's home. I would love to know more about her parents and siblings: Myron, Mamie, Nellie, Mervin and Mabel. They are listed in the 1880 census as living in Fulton.

Hi Denise. Thank you for posting this. I'm not sure this is my Mervin, because the birthdate I have is Aug 1877. However, that may not be correct. I need to do more digging.

I have contacted the Fulton website. I will have to try again.

Thank you for all you do.

Sheri,
You will find as your research continues, that b/m/d dates will vary considerably from document to document. What is your source for the birth date you have?

Do you have any death dates or obits on the parents or siblings?

Best of luck on your genealogical journey. I am headed for the Sterling Library for more research, so if I run across other info, I will certainly post it here.

I have a marriage certificate for Elmyra Catherine LaRue and William Horace Hummel. She was born 13 May 1863, although no place is given. They were married 24 Feb 1886 in Luverne, Rock, Minnesota.

Her granddaughter told me (in a letter) that she (Elmyra) died 15 Nov 1922 in Medford, Taylor, Wisconsin. She is buried in Cumberland, Wisc. I also have a note that Elmyra was a schoolteacher in Luverne, Minn. while her husband did a law apprenticeship.

I'll keep digging. Maybe someone in Luverne, Minn, knows something!
