Hello all,
I am helping a young man from California with his Miller family. Our ultimate goals are 1. Find his parents' names & 2. Find the name of the ancestral village/town in Bern, Switzerland.

The MILLER farmland was located where Lee Co. & Whiteside Co. abut - Harmon & Montmorency. Sect. 36, Monmorecy Twp.

The death of Supervisor Christian Miller of Montmorency township occurred Sunday morning at 4 oclock in the Alexian Brothers Hospital, Chicago. From there the remains will be brought to Sterling where services will be held in St. Mary's church at 10:30 o'clock.
Mr. Miller has been ill but a short time and his death came after an operation which he underwent at the Chicago hospital Wednesday.
He is survived by two sons, John of Harmon and Edward of Montmorency, and two daughters, Mrs. E. Mannion of Harmon and Mrs. Michael Gleason of Montmorency, and his wife.
Christian MIller was born in Switzerland, June 29, 1840, moved to America and settled near Sterling in 1863, and was married to Miss Mary Carney, February 16, 1868.
Mr. Miller has held the office of supervisor for 17 years, part of the time serving as chairman of the board. He also served as assessor from Montmorency, was highway commissioner for 9 years and has served on the school board at different times.

There is a Valazques family living on the Harmon property - she is a gd of Christopher, but does not know the answer to the questions. This information is imperative and needed for a Switzerland Citizenship. If you or someone you know descends from this family, PLEASE contact us asap. THANK YOU!
