Found an article about a James R. Sharkey being struck by lightning and killed 8 miles east of Tampico on June 8, 1906 while he was planting corn. The article was reprinted in the October 2009 issue of the Lee County Genealogical Society Newsletter. It appears he was more Lee County than Whiteside but I thought someone may be interested in the article.

Thanks for thinking of us, Patty. I'm sure someone will find the information helpful.
