Looking for any information on a Matthew Halligan, 1839, my great grandfather. He came over from Ireland at about age 26. Married Nora and had 9 children, one of which is my grandfather, Hugh. (3-17-1888) He also had a daughter, Nina B,who married Charles Reiley. Having trouble tracing back to my Irish roots and finding anything on him here in LaSalle/Whiteside area. Thanks for any help.

Hi Jkonzen,
I'm wondering if you did a site search on this site? We have a photo album for the Reiley/Howlett families, which includes Charles Reiley/Nina B.
HOWLETT & REILEY PHOTO ALBUM

Also, Genealogy Trails has a lot of history on the Reiley Family. Here is link to Charles Patrick Reiley

There were other listings for the search entry of HALLIGAN, so see what you find there first. Then, let me know what else you would like help with - okay?
Best of Luck!

I can also check our Tampico Tornado newspaper for correlating dates, especially for obits, births and marriages. We also have the Funeral Logs which can offer additonal information sometimes. The headstones will be in our Picasa Photo Album for St. Mary's, but I'm not sure if i have labeled it yet. You may need to go through the pictures to find them. Let me know what you need and I can get a copy for you.

I checked our Tampico Tornado newspapers and did not find any new information with the exception of an obit for Nina Halligan Reiley. She and Charles are buried in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Tampico, IL. Do you need obits for them?

I checked our Funeral Logs and could not find any of the Halligan's that are suppose to be buried in St. Mary's. Not sure why.

Have you decided if you want any of the GAZETTE articles I sent you? You can contact the Sterling Library for transcriptions or I can transcribe them for you on my next visit to the library. Let me know how you would like to proceed.
