I am trying to find more info on Richard. He married Melissa Meek and they had 3 children. She died suddenly in 1888. Melissa is buried at Walnut. I found their children living with differant family members. They were with her parents William Meek and her sister Olive who married Richard Langfords brother William. It has been told that Richard remarried a "Maude" they never had children. Richard was on the 1910 census in bureau but is wife is listed on the 1920 census as a widow. I am looking for when he died, where he is buried and what happened to his and Melissa's children. Also would like to find obits for both Melissa and Richard

You will have more success with the Bureau Co. Genealogical Society & the Walnut Library. Their library has a wonderful little "genealogy room" that is loaded with historical information. They also have the index for the Walnut Cemetery.

The TAHS only covers a small part of Bureau Co. - Thomas & Yorktown. If you find that the family trickled over to our area, let me know. Perhaps another family member will see this post and be able to help you.

Have you checked with the court house for a death cert. for Porter? Or the BCGS for an obit?

You can find contact information for Bureau Co. from our TOC > County Information > Bureau County
