TAHS Website Updates for Sept. 2006

October 1, 2006

Happy Fall Ya'll! It's been a busy month on the website.
Unfortunately, many of the obits listed are current - we
lost several wonderful people in the past several weeks.
You will note that a special fund has been established in
honor of Lloyd McElhiney who, with his wife Amy, were
docents for the Ronald Reagan Birthplace and Museum for
over a decade. The goal is to erect a statue of Ronald
Reagan, representative of his early years in Tampico, in
Reagan Park. Details for this on are on the Ronald Reagan
webpage of the site.

Here are the new entries for the month of September:

CEMETERIES
TAMPICO MEMORIAL CEMETERY
I am continuing to upload photos of the headstones in the
Tampico Memorial Cemetery (TMC). Many, many, many THANKS to
Ron Sharp for all of his help taking the photos. The
headstones will be posted on the Cemetery Headstone page. I
have several sources that I am cross-referencing and am
also making (many) corrections to original cemetery list as
I go. It is quite labor-intensive, but certainly a doable
project. Check it often as I continue to go back and fill
in more information or make corrections. The headstones
will eventually be linked from the cemetery list/index as
well. See the TMC Index. Once we get all of the headstones
photographed and all of the information corrected and/or
updated, I hope to be able to produce it in printed format
for those that "don't do internet." :>) Just keep
checking back. I have already gone back and changed
information or updated it since I started, so check your
folks often. I need obits. If you have obits (or any
pertinient info on the folks buried in the TMC), first do a
site search to make sure we don't already have it. If not,
please feel free to submit it to me via email or snail
mail.
Added map-layout of the Tampico Memorial Cemetery (pdf)
I HAVE COMPLETED THE NEW INDEX FOR THE TAMPICO MEMORIAL
CEMETERY! I will continue to update and make corrections
and add photos of headstones, obits, etc. Please feel free
to contact me if you feel there is an error or would like
to add any information.
