March was another wonderful month for us. Our guest speaker
this month was Mr. Ed Abbott whose family farm in Morrison
was part of the underground railroad. In April, Roy Haney
will be telling us the history of the Tampico Methodist
church.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: If you are local, please consider
donating three hours a month as a volunteer at the
historical society. We are open April through October, Sat.
& Sun. from 1p-4p. This is also a great time to help us
"spring clean" - organizing and displaying our items. If
you would like to volunteer to help, please contact Joan
Johnson at garyjoan@thewisp.net, or call 815-438-7581; or
Denise McLoughlin, tahs@thewisp.net.

We received a wonderful monetary donation from the Tampico
Lion's club to purchase some much-needed archiving
materials, particularly for our precious Tampico Tornado
newspapers. Les Niemi also donated a digital camera and a
printer/copier/scanner. (I am soooooooooo happy! - BIG
Smile)See our WISH LIST on site:

Can you help???

IDEA: I have been thinking about having the TAHS Family
History Library/Research Center open one evening a week,
(probably a Thursday evening). It would be a great
opportunity to do some local or family history research for
folks. TAHS members also enjoy the benefit of access to
Ancestry.com and Newspaper Archives.com on our computer.
Your feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
