CAN YOU HELP????

Volunteers are still needed to help in the Reagan
Birthplace & the Tampico Historical Society. Please contact
Joan Johnson @ 815-438-7581 or email her
garyjoan@thewisp.net You can contact either Joan or Denise
to volunteer in the Historical Society. Denise:
815-438-2065 or tahs@thewisp.net or ddm1050@hotmail.

I am looking for volunteers in the Historical Society (119
Main St.) to help sort, identify and archive the many
photographs we have. If you could help with this on a
Saturday or Sunday from 1-4p.m., it would be so helpful. I
am usually at the historical society, but I am always
upstairs working in the Family History Library/Research
Center. It would be nice to have someone available
downstairs. At the same time, we could be getting ourselves
organized, starting with the photographs. There is also a
large photo album dedicated to only Reagan photos and
newspaper clippings. There is still much to do with this
album. Please contact me if you can spend a few hours
helping preserve our history.

I also need volunteers to help "index" the Tampico
Tornados. This is a major project that will most likely
take years to do. But we can chip away at it, little by
little. It is a manual labor project - it doesn't require
any computer work. Everything will be done on index cards.
Contact me for details. Other historical societies have
already done this with their newspapers - Bureau Co.
Genealogical Society has done it for ALL of the Bureau Co.
papers, so we can surely do it for one newspaper!!! The
newspaper was a weekly issue/12 pages for 90 years.

We need some new (read: "young") blood. Please ask your
children, grandchildren, students, etc. to consider being a
part of preserving our local history. We have lots of
things for them to be involved with and we need fresh ideas
(not to mention occasional "muscle") Many, many thanks to
Denise Mickelson & Karen Dever for their untiring help with
organizing the upstairs Family History Library/Research
Center as well as the other display rooms upstairs.
