State Historical Marker Dedication

Sep 13, 2010

The Tampico Area Historical Society, in conjunction with the Illinois State Historical Society, will be dedicating a State Historical Marker in Reagan Park, 130 S. Main St.; Tampico, Il on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010 at 1:00 PM.

The marker commemorates the birth of Ronald Reagan in Tampico and the small town influence on his life. Adm. Joseph Mason Reeves, a Naval Veteran and the Shaheen family, all of Tampico are also being recognized.

This dedication ceremony will be the start of Tampico's celebration of the 100th anniversary of Ronald Reagan's birth. Many other events are being planned by the community during the year-long celebration beginning with a "gala" on Feb. 4, 2011 and Birthday Party on Feb. 6, 2011.

We welcome everyone's attendance for the dedication of the marker, followed by tours of the Ronald Reagan Birthplace and refreshments at the Historical Museum on Main Street - Tampico.
