Lyon Home at 301 Market Street

Property description of 301 Market: Lot 16, Block 38, City of Tampico. Lot 16 is one of the six lots purchased by Marcus Lyon in 1901. Transferred from Martin G. Love and Imogene L. Love (his wife) to Marcus Lyon, six lots # 11-16, block 38, July 6, 1901. Purchase price: $706.00. [Whiteside County Register of Deeds, Book 164, pg. 16] The home at 301 Market Street was built in 1901. Following Marcus Lyon’s death in 1908 and finalization of probate, lots 11-16, block 38, were purchased by his widow, Minerva Lyon, for $4,150.00 on February 26, 1910.. [Whiteside County Register of Deeds, Book 170, pg. 540] Lots 14-16 transferred from Minerva Lyon to Minnie E. Round, March 4, 1910 for $3,000.00. Lots 11-13 were purchased by Minnie E. Round for $750.00. [Whiteside County Register of Deeds, Book 170, pg. 264] Lot 16 transferred from W.N. Smith (brother-in-law to Minnie E. Round) to Augustus Gholson, April 2, 1946, from Augustus Gholson to Richard Harms, May 3, 1951, and from Richard Harms to Charles D. Chriest, March 29, 1982.
