FRED DESSING

 

Fred Dessing Dies Wednesday

 

Prophetstown: - Fred Dessing, 77, died Wednesday morning at Community General Hospital following a long illness. 



Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at the Gardner Chapel with Pastor Marshall Esty officiating.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.  Friends may call at the chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.   A memorial has been established for the Prophetstown United Methodist Church.

 

Fred Dessing was born April 3, 1898, the son of Lewis and Minnie Hill Dessing.  He was educated in rural schools and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Prophetstown.  He married Alice Van Rycke of Prophetstown in the Methodist Parsonage on April 24, 1929. They resided in the Prophetstown area since their marriage and he worked as a lineman for Commonwealth Edison for 31 years before retiring.

 

Survivors include his widow,  one daughter, Mrs. John (Florence) Pierceson of Deer Grove;  two sons, Robert of Mendota and Roland of Prophetstown;  eight grandchildren;  two great grandchildren;  one brother, Roy of Colona.
