PROPHETSTOWN — Carolyn L. Avery, 92, formerly of Rock Falls and Tampico, died Monday, June 30, 2008, at Prophets Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown.


Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Garland Funeral Home, Tampico, with the Rev. Rod Dye, pastor of Erie United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery.



Visitation will be one-half hour prior to the services in the funeral home.

Carolyn L. Avery,


92, of Prophetstown, formerly of Tampico and Rock Falls, died Monday, June 30, 2008, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown. She was employed by General Electric, Co., Morrison, before retiring.


Ms. Avery was born Oct. 14, 1915, in Fairfield Township, the daughter of Horace E. and Emma M. (Hansen) Avery.


Survivors include a niece, Verna Jean Nelson of Erie; and two nephews, Arlyn (Judy) Avery of Erie and Ron (Helen) Avery of Abingdon, Va.


She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Vernon.


The funeral is at 2 p.m. Thursday at Garland Funeral Home, Tampico, with the Rev. Rod Dye, pastor of Erie United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial is at Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.


A memorial has been established to Tampico Methodist Church.

            Arrangements are pending at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico.
