ERNEST  B.  WHITTINGTON

 

Prophetstown: - Ernest B. Whittington, 66, of Prophetstown, died Feb. 9 1993, at St. Luke's Hospital, Davenport, Iowa.

 

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Catherine's Church, Prophetstown. Burial will be at St. Catherine's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the Gibson Funeral Home, Erie, with a rosary at 8 p.m.

 

Mr. Whittington was born Jan. 10, 1927, in Annawan, the son of Willis E. and Anna (Louckart) Whittington.  He married Dorothy Schackelford April 25, 1945, in Hooppole. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.  He retired from the former International Harvester Farmall Works in Rock Island in 1986 after 37 years. He was a member of St. Catherine' Church, Prophetstown, and the United Auto Workers.

 

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Brenda Bevan of Davenport, Iowa; three sons, Ernest Jr. of Springfield, Ohio, Kenneth of Milan and Rodney of Prophetstown; 11 grandchildren; his mother of Geneseo; three sisters, Dorothy Michaels of Colona, Ruby Whittington of Carbondale and Betty Cooper of Moline; four brotheres, Raymond of Geneseo, Robert of Willow Springs, and Marlin and Heerbert, both of Moline.
