Leslie S. Peterson, Tampico, Passes Away


TAMPICO - Leslie S. Peterson, 77, died Wednesday Dec. 5, at the Linton Nursing Home in Sterling, were he had been a patient of some tome. He had been seriously ill for 10 days.


The body was removed to the Parent Funeral Home in Tampico where friends may call. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Tampico Methodist Church. The Rev. Stockton Swaney, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Tampico Memorial Cemetery.


Mr. Peterson was born Dec. 14, 1878 at Yorktown, the son of George and Lavina Hayes Peterson. He was educated in the Yorktown and Thomas schools. He was married to Jenny Matilda Anderson on Dec. 31, 1904 at New Bedford. He was a member of the Fairfield Lutheran Church. He had lived in Tampico for the past 38 years.


Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Herbert Atkerson, a granddaughter, Mrs. Earl Coers and two great-grandsons, all of Tampico; one brother, Earl W. Peterson of New Bedford.


He was preceded in death by his wife who died in 1954, his parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
