WALNUT - Gwendolyn F. Wilson, 98, of 203 S. Main St., Walnut, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at Walnut Manor Nursing Home. She and her husband were former publishers of the Walnut Leader.


Mrs. Wilson was born Sept. 4, 1910, in Manlius, the daughter of Leo H. and Dora (Edlefson) Czech. She married Edwin A. Wilson on May 6, 1935, in Walnut. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1993. She was a member of Walnut United Methodist Church.


Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Ron) Frazier of California and Mary (Wallace) Bass of Walnut; a sister, Marjorie Lathrop of Kewanee; two granddaughters; a great-grandson; and several nieces.


She also was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, two sons-in-law, a brother, a sister, and a nephew.


The funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Garland Funeral Home, Walnut, with the Rev. Paul Nolden, pastor of Walnut United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial is at Walnut Cemetery. Visitation is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.


Memorials have been established to Walnut Manor Nursing Home and Walnut Fire Department.
