Etta Mae Tufte

Etta Mae Rosene Tufte, 84, passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at her home in Cantonment, Fla.

A celebration of Etta Mae's life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls, Ill. Internment will follow in Tampico Memorial Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Pamela Avery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls.

She was born April 26, 1923, in Tampico to Leroy and Lillian Johnson Rosene. She married Henry C. Tufte July 3, 1947.

Etta Mae was a graduate of Northern Illinois University. After teaching first grade in the Genoa-Kingston School District for more than 40 years, she retired in 1985. Etta Mae remained an active member in Gamma Pi sorority and was an ever-faithful supporter of the Tampico Alumni Association. Etta Mae enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She was most recently a member of the Lathram United Methodist Chapel, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was devoted to youth ministries.

She is survived by nieces, Lorelie (Charles) Schatti, Virgina Beach, Va., Pamela Beydler, Cantonment, Fla.; Suzanne (Jeff) Blackwell, Delafield, Wis.; Joni Schatti, Independence, Mo., and Betsy Schatti, Gulf Breeze, Fla.; nephew, William (Sonja) Schatti, East Moline; brother-in-law, Ronald Rank, Sterling, Ill.; four great-nieces; six great-nephews; one great-great-niece and one great-great-nephew. Etta Mae was a loving aunt who will be greatly missed.

Preceding her in death was her beloved husband of 53 years, Henry Tufte, and her five sisters.
