HAROLD WRIGHT

Mount Morris - Harold Norman Wright, 77, of 306 E. Center St., Mount Morris, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at his home. He was employed by Illinois State Police, District 16, Pecatonica, as the supervisor of communications for 29 years, retiring in 1991.

Harold was born April 9, 1932, in Walnut, the son of Albert and Marie (Purvis) Wright. He served  the Air force during the 1950's. Harold married Susan J. Haan on Aug. 8, 1953, in Brackley, North Ants, England. He moved from Galt to Mount Morris 33 years ago. Harold had many various interests in serving his community including Cub Scout Master of Pack 333, chairman of the Mount Morris Planning Commission, and as a sergeant on the Mount Morris Police Reserve. he enjoyed snowmobiling and amateur ham radio, Harold was a member of Disciples United Methodist Church, Mount Morris.

Survivors include his wife, sue; three daughters, Suzanne (Jack) Thompson of Oregon, Mary (Robert) Burke Jr. of Janesville, Wis., and Michelle Bolhouse of Dixon; three sons, Mark Wright of Duluth, Minn., Steven (Gina) Wright of Breese, and David Wright of Mount Morris; his mother of Mount Morris; one brother, Gene (Carol) Wright of Savanna; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Disciples United Methodist Church, Mount Morris, with the Rev. Lora Zink, pastor, officiating. Burial is at Plainview Cemetery, Mount Morris. Visitation is from 6 - 8 p.m. today at Finch Funeral Home, Mount Morris.

A memorial has been established to the Village of Mount Morris Avenue of Flags project.
