Tampico Youth Is Killed In Accident;  Companion Injured -
Terrance Forward Dies of Burns; Dick Rasmussen Is Critical

A Tampico high school junior was killed Christmas night in a truck accident near Downers Grove and another Tampico youth was severely burned.

Terrance Dean Forward, 17, died of burns, when the truck he and his companion, Dick Rasmussen, 20, also of Tampico, were riding in crashed into a stoplight, a service station sign, and a power line pole and turned over at the intersection of Ogden avenue and the main road leading into Downers Grove.

Rasmussen suffered severe burns and was taken to the Hinsdale Sanitarium in nearby Hinsdale, where he was still reported in serious condition Friday morning.

According to Downers Grove police the two Tampico youths were on their way out of Chicago when the accident took place.  Police were unable to remove Forward from the burning cab of the semi-trailer cattle truck.

Coroner Joseph V. Dieter swore in an inquest jury this morning and continued the case, pending the release of Rasmussen from the Hinsdale hospital.

Rasmussen was driving the truck when the accident occurred.  After hitting the stop light, the truck swerved across Ogden avenue and struck the power line and sign before overturning.  Forward was pinned in on the right hand side of the cab.

Rasmussen, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Rasmussen, lived on a farm near Tampico.
