Harry M. Hurd Sr. Succumbs Saturday 

Tampico: - Harry Martin Hurd, Sr., 80, passed away Saturday evening at the Sterling Community General Hospital after an illness of some time. 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Schmitt Chapel, the Rev. Clarke Devore of the Tampico Christian Church officiating, with burial in Tampico Memorial Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Monday (today).  A memorial has been established in his name.  

Harry Hurd was born Aug. 11, 1888 in Pine Creek, the son of Martin and Nancy Stouffer Hurd. He lived in the Tampico vicinity about 43 years and was engaged in farming and in business in Tampico before retiring.  He married Elizabeth Robde on Jan. 27, 1925 in Clinton, Iowa. 

He is survived by his widow; two sons, Harry Hurd Jr. of Tampico and Kenneth Charles Hurd of Sterling; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two brothers, Jake of rural Rock Falls, and John of Sterling; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Wagner of Lakeland, Fla., several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded by his parents and one brother Harold.
