EDWARD  DENNIS  CALLAHAN

Edward Callahan Succumbs Thursday 

Tampico:  Edward Dennis Callahan, 75, Tampico, died Thursday afternoon at Prophetstown. 

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with a Mass of the Resurrection. The Rev. Eugene Park will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.  Friends may call at Schmitt Chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Schmitt Chapel.  Memorial may be made to the Heart Fund. 

Edward Callahan was born Oct. 25, 1900 in Hahnaman Township, the son of Dennis and Elizabeth Leahy Callahan. He received his  education in Deer Grove   Schools.  He married Bessie Blackburn on Dec. 31, 1925 at Walton. He farmed in the Tampico area until retiring a few yars ago.  He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. 

Survivors include his widow;  three daughters, Mrs. Neil (Joan) Carlsen of Tampico,  Mrs. Robert (Rita) Van De Velde of Sterling, and Mrs. Stanley (Jane) Verdick of Hooppole;  13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Charles Brown of Sterling, Mrs. Don Glassburn of Wisconsin and Julia and Hazel Callahan of Rock Falls. 

He was preceded by his parents and two brothers, Leo and James.
