Farm Injuries Are Fatal To Dale C. Longman, 8, Walnut

Walnut: - Funeral services for Dale Charles Longman, eight-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Longman, Rt 2, who died from head injuries received in a farm accident on Saturday afternoon, were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the United Brethren Church with the Rev. Steven Joos officiating. Burial was in the Manlius Cemetery.

Dale Longman, while holding a gate open for an approaching tractor, was crushed between the gate and the tractor.  A coroner's inquest conducted by Bureau County Coroner Joseph Riva ruled that death resulted from accidental head injuries.

Dale Longman was born Sept. 25, 1956, the son of Alvin C. and Margaret Heller Longman, in Princeton.

Surviving are his parents, one brother, Douglas, and one sister, Diana, at home; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Winifred Longman, Manlius, and a maternal grandmother, Mrs. Earl Heller, and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.  A memorial is being established for the United Brethren Memorial Fund.
