HUGH  VERNON  MOTT

H. Vernon Mott Rites Will Be Held Tuesday

Funeral services for Hugh Vernon Mott, 74, who died Saturday morning in Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Wheelock Allen Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Rev. Brace Johnson, pastor of the First Christian Church of Sterling, officiating.  Interment will be in Fairfield-Greenville Cemetery at New Bedford.

Hugh Vernon Mott was born Oct. 19, 1885 in Princeton, Ill., the son of the late Lewis and May Mott. He was united in marriage to Rowena E. Hayes, July 12, 1906. 

The Motts farmed in Thomas, Ill., for many years, moving to Sterling in the spring of 1928.  In 1934 they moved to Chicago where Mr. Mott was employed for many years by the Joyce Detective Agency. After retirement, from the detective work, he took employment in the County Building until his health made it necessary for him to retire.

He is survived by his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Ila Easter, Mrs. Vyrda Henne, Mrs. Yvette Schaad and Mrs. Jennalee Forton of Chicago; and Mrs. Ruby Swanson of New Bedford; a son, William of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Nicholas of Sterling and Mrs. Muriel Cullen of Clinton, Ia.;  two brothers, Cecil of Chicago and Fay, Sterling Township Town Clerk, Sterling; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nettie Mae.
