Sister of Local Woman Passes Away

Tampico: - Mrs. Bernice Geneve Herring, 38, of Rockford, passed away Wednesday morning, April 28, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. She had been ill for two years.

She was born Jan. 29, 1927, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Sawyer, in Welch, W. Va., where she was reared and educated. She married Richard Herring, Feb. 14, 1958, in Sterling. They lived for two years in Michigan, and for the past four years had lived in Rockford.

She is survived by her husband, her father, Emmett Sawyer; four brothers, Thomas, Blaine, Kenneth, and Harold, one sister, Mrs. Calvin (Wanda) Pond of Sterling.  She was preceded in death by her mother.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the Schmitt Chapel, Tampico. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Tampico Memorial Cemetery.
