PROPHETSTOWN – Douglas A. Draper, 85, of 317 Market St., Prophetstown, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010. He was employed by General Electric in Morrison for more than 30 years.

Mr. Draper was born June 22, 1925, in Council, Idaho, the son of Nute and Carrie (Matteson) Draper. He served in the Navy during World War II.

He married Ramona J. Urban on May 10, 1946, in Hooppole. She preceded him in death on Sept. 19, 2004.

Survivors include one son, Randy Draper of Prophetstown; one sister, Betty Draper; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Lois Miller of Sterling.

He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Tamra Posey; one sister, Mary; and three brothers, John, Walt and Robert Draper.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home, Prophetstown, with the Rev. Jim Jensen officiating. Burial, with graveside honors by Hooppole American Legion Post No. 1191, will be at Hooppole Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with Masonic memorial service at 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established to Prophetstown Lodge No. 293 and Hooppole American Legion Post No. 1191.

DOUGLAS A. DRAPER, 85, of 317 Market Street, Prophetstown, IL, died Monday, October 18, 2010 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL.

Douglas was born June 22, 1925 in Council, ID to Nute and Carrie (Matteson) Draper. He was educated in the Council, ID grade schools and attended Council High School. Doug was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. He married Ramona J. Urban on May 10, 1946 in Hooppole, IL. She died September 19, 2004. Doug was employed by General Electric in Morrison, IL for over 30 years. He was a member of the Prophetstown Lodge #293 AF & AM and was a past master. He was also a member of the Hooppole American Legion Post #1191 and enjoyed playing the harmonica.

Survivors include one son, Randy Draper of Prophetstown, IL; seven grandchildren, Troy (Wendi) Draper, Kimberly Draper, Brent (Kathy) Posey, Brian (Sheri) Posey, Mark Posey, Shawn Posey, and Amber Posey; twenty-one great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Draper; and a special friend, Lois Miller of Sterling, IL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona; one daughter, Tamra Posey; one sister, Mary; three brothers, John, Walt, and Robert Draper.

INTERMENT: Hooppole Cemetery – Hooppole, IL with graveside Military Funeral Honors by the Hooppole American Legion Post # 1191
