Betty J. Greenwood, 88, formerly of Yorktown, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at Prophets Good Samaritan in Prophetstown.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at Tampico Church of Christ, the Revx. Clarke Devore and John Mattingly officiating.  Burial will be in Yorktown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. A memorial has been established.

Tampico - Betty J. Greenwood, age 88, formerly of Yorktown, Illinois died Wednesday December 22, 2010 at Prophets Good Samaritan in Prophetstown, Illinois.

Betty was born on October 21, 1922 in Princeton, Illinois the daughter of Robert and Hazel (Corey) Mercer. She was united in marriage to Dale B. Greenwood on December 28, 1945 in Kasbeer, Illinois and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2007. She worked at Kraft Foods in Manlius, Illinois for a number of years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Tampico, Tops in Manlius, Home Extension, Manlius Women’s Club and Royal Neighbors.

She is survived by two daughters Carol Lee Fox of Tampico, Illinois, Linda Marie (Neil Johnson) Greenwood of Lyndon, Illinois; two sons Larry Gene (Susan) Greenwood of Sheffield, Illinois, Gary Duane (Lonnie) Greenwood of Rock Falls, Illinois, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister Elizabeth Philhower of Ohio, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one granddaughter Jena and two great granddaughters.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 10 a.m. the Tampico Church of Christ with the Rev. Clarke Devore and the Rev. John Mattingly co-officiating. Burial will be in Yorktown Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. A MEMORIAL HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED IN HER MEMORY.
