EUNICE  M.  DeREU

Prophetstown:  - Eunice M. DeReu, 92, of 513 W. Fifth St., Prophetstown, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at CGH Medical Center.  Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Gardner Funeral Home, Prophetstown, with the Rev. Father Ken Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown.  Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  A memorial has been established.

Mrs. DeReu was born Nov. 22, 1906, in Hooppole, the daughter of Gerhart and Sophia (Toy) Wolf. She married Arthur S. DeReu on Feb. 18, 1930 at St. Anthony Rectory, Atkinson. He died in 1965.  The couple farmed in the Annawan, Atkinson and Hoopole areas before moving into Prophetstown. She was employed by Micro-Gear Manufacturing, Prophetstown, until her retirement. She was a member of St. Catherine's Church, Prophetstown, Eshelman-Talley American Legion Auxiliary, Hooppole, and Ladies Auxiliary of Geneseo Moose. She did volunteer work at Prophets Good Samaitan Center and helped bring the Senior Meal Center to Prophetstown.

Survivors include a son, Lynn (Barbara) DeReu, a step grandson; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sister.
