Wilma Marie Matthews, 82 of Iowa City died Sunday
January 16, 2011 at UIHC following a lengthy
illness.


Funeral Services to celebrate Wilma's life will be at
11 a.m. Wed-nesday, January 19, 2011 at New H
orizons United Methodist Church, Coralville, with
Rev. Karen Nelson officiating. Visitation will be
Tuesday from 3 to 7pm at Lensing's Oak Hill,
Coralville, and after 10am Wednesday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to New
Horizons Church.


Wilma was born January 17, 1928 in Nameoki,
Illinois, daughter of Louis and Freda (Romann) B
randing. She was a graduate of Granite City, IL
High School. On September 28, 1957 Wilma married
George Matthews in Granite City, Illinois.


Wilma and George moved to Iowa City in 1986.
Wilma was employed at UIHC in Pastoral Services
and later in the Department of Anesthesia. Wilma
also worked in the New Horizons church office,
where she was a member.


Wilma was a member of Minerva Chapter 6 Eastern
Star in Prophetstown.


She is survived by three children: Lois Matthews of
Iowa City, Beth (David) Butler of Wichita, KS, Jane
(Harold) Mohr of Manchester; Five grandchildren
Matthew, Kevin, Amanda, Harold and Derrick; her
brother Paul Branding (Velma) of Nashville, TN and
her sister Virginia Meinhardt of The Woodlands, TX.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her
husband George in 1998, two brothers Earl and
Louis and her sister Melba Colle.
