Elizabeth "Betty" Forney Matthews obit read as follows:

Rock Falls - Elizabeth "Betty" A. Matthews, age 89, died Thursday February 3, 2011 at the Sterling Pavilion Nursing Home.

Betty was born on June 9, 1921 in Moline the daughter of Daniel and Dorothy (Risdon) Forney.  She was raised in Walnut and was a member of the 50th class to graduate from Walnut High School in 1939.  She married Glenn W. Matthews on December 7, 1944 in Springfield, IL.  He died on May 4, 1986.  Betty owned and operated Matthews Cafe in Milledgeville for 10 years.  She retired from the KSB Dietary Department in 1988.  Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dixon.

Survivors include one daughter, Jean (Neil) Richmond of Sterling; two sons, G. William "Bill" (Suzi) Matthews of Normal and Dan (June) Matthews of Vancouver, WA.;  two sisters, Priscilla Brittin of Carbondale and Clara Snell of Pekin; seven grandchildren, Emilie (Pat) Halm, Nate (Kim) Goldman, Ben (Kari) Matthews, Andrew (Janelle) Matthews, Rachel (Jesse) Holeman, Sam Matthews and Madeline "Maddie" Richmond; nine great grandchildren, Kimberly and Kevin Halm; Jake Goldman; Hannah, Lily, Ainsley, and Isaiah Matthews; Andrew and Grace Holeman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Ruth Lawrence.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday February 9, 2011 at the Leon Methodist Church rural Prophetstown with Reverend Tony Hawkins officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7:00 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls.  Burial will follow at the Leon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Milledgeville Fire Department and St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
