OBITUARY
William F. 'Fount' Baltzell
MURPHYSBORO -- William F. "Fount" Baltzell, 86, passed away Wednesday afternoon the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion. Military services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, in Walker Hill Cemetery and will be conducted by American Legion Post 127 and VFW Post 7190 of Murphysboro, VFW Post 2605 of Carbondale, and Jackson County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 69. There will be no visitation. Pettett Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Fount was born on Oct. 2, 1917, in Grand Tower to William Ed and Lula (Hill) Baltzell. He was a truck driver and was a member of the Teamster Union. Mr. Baltzell was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 127 in Murphysboro, the VFW Post of Anna, Elks Lodge 572 of Murphysboro and Eagles Lodge 2569 of Carbondale. He married Marie Riegger and Nora Tarkington and they preceded him in death. He later married Rowena (Wanstreet) Staples and she survives. Other survivors include one son, William E. Baltzell of Grand Tower; one daughter, Jane Robertson of Grand Tower; one stepson, John Kurt Staples of Murphysboro; two stepdaughters, Tina Tennison of Du Quoin and Margaret Ann Ebersohl of Tampico; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one brother Russell Baltzell and his parents.
