Mrs. Nettie Hayes, 87, of New Bedford Succumbs; Funeral on Tuesday

Mrs. Nettie Hayes, 87, esteemed resident of New Bedford, passed away at 1:55 a.m. Sunday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Will Nelick, with whom she had made her home since the death of her husband in 1923.  She had been in declining health for several years and bedfast for the past two weeks.

The body will respose at the Hudson Funeral Home at Wyanet until Tuesday noon when it will be taken to the New Bedford Christian Church for the funeral services at 2:30 p.m.  The Rev. John Hallock, pastor, will officiate.  Committal will be in the Greenville-Fairfield Cemetery.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Laura Draper of Rochelle, Mrs. Lena Nelick of New Bedford, and Mrs. Rowena Mott of Chicago;  two sons, P. J. Hayes, Waukesha, Wis., and Vernal C. Hayes, Wyanet; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Perna, at the age of six, and Mrs. Melva Jones, who died in February 1944, and a son, Irvin Hayes who passed away in December 1931.
