Norman P. “Butch” Heeren - 84

Tampico- Norman P. “Butch” Heeren, age 84 of Galt, Illinois died Tuesday May 29, 2012 at
his home.

Butch was born on June 9, 1927 in Hopkinton, Iowa, the son of Fred and Edith (Gestel) Hereen. He was united in marriage to Rita Jean Henry on August 16, 1958 in Sterling, Illinois. He served in the United States Army during World War II. During his lifetime he worked on farms in the Deer Grove area, Cady Grain and Lumber Company in Deer Grove and also for the Illinois Highway Department on road maintenance in Rock Falls, Illinois. He also worked for Propheter Construction on construction and as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Sterling. Butch was a lifetime member of Sterling VFW, Knights of Columbus #662, Local # 150 International Union of Operating Engineers.

Butch is survived by his wife Rita Jean of Galt, Illinois, two brothers Francis (Mildred) Heeren of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Donald (Delores) Heeren of Rock Falls, Illinois; five sisters Ila Lewis of Cordova, Tennessee, Priscilla Shelton of Rochelle, Illinois, Clara Dobbeke of Deer Grove, Illinois, Velma Zimmerman of Rochelle, Illinois, Emma (Troy) Jones of Wynne, Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Fred, two sisters Mary Jean and Mavis.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday June 2 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Tampico, Illinois with Msgr. Thomas Dzielak, pastor officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Tampico. Visitation will be held on Friday at 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tampico. A MEMORIAL HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED IN HIS MEMORY TO ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH IN TAMPICO AND GAFFEY HOSPICE. The Garland Funeral Home of Tampico is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to www.garlandfuneralhome.com.
