Anita HOetzel, age 65 of Prophetstown, passed away unexpectedly in her home. 

Anita was born on May 23, 1948, in Morrison to Dwight and Lois (Egert) Oetzel. She attended Prophetstown schools and graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. After graduation, she worked as a medical technologist for a number of years before farming in the Prophetstown area. Anita also served as an EMT and was a tax preparer. Over the years she served on many local boards and was involved in community activities. Anita was passionate about art and was an avid collector of it. She also enjoyed her flowers and working in her yard. She was fortunate to live in such a supportive community. 

Survivors include three sisters: Nina Roth of Walla Walla, WA; Rhonda (Vic) Dunes of Mesa, AZ and Glenna (David) Spotts of Racine, WI. Nieces and nephews: Jeremy (Megan) Roth, Erica (Nick) Genereux, Christie (Michael) Bartzen and Andrew Spotts and four great nephews and niece, Maggie Roth, Duncan Genereux Roth, Tyler Bartzen and Jacob Bartzen. 

Anita was preceded in death by her parents and one brother-in-law, Dan Roth. 

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown at 11:00 AM.
