Robert K. ‘Bob’ Meier

PROPHETSTOWN – Robert K. “Bob” Meier, 90, of Prophetstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at Morrison Community Hospital. 

Bob was born Aug. 11, 1924, in Prophetstown, the son of August and Elsie (Taber) Meier.  He married Idella Mae Bolt on Sept. 10, 1944, in Prophetstown. Bob enlisted in the Army in 1945. He honorably served his country as a member of the Occupational Forces on the islands of Hokkaido and Honshu, Japan. He farmed for many years, and then was employed at Thermogas in Prophetstown for more than 21 years.

Survivors include four daughters, Sandra Pierceson of Morrison, Connie (Bob) Clayman of Roscoe, Donna (Jim) Moews of East Moline, and Carol Ingle of Tampico; four brothers, Jack (Alice) Meier of Shabbona, Ronald Meier of Prophetstown, Raymond Meier of Warren, and Larry Meier of Surprise, Arizona; nine grandchildren, Dawn (Jeff) Hackbarth of Rock Falls, Jason Pierceson of Springfield, Becky (Shane) Hickey of Osceola, Indiana, Brenda Clayman of Loves Park, Wendy (David Rouse) of Moline, Jennifer (Tim) Pearson of LeClaire, Iowa, Gary Ingle and Denise Ingle, both of Tampico, and Brandon McNeill of Granville; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one daughter, Marsha McNeill; and one granddaughter, Angela Ingle.

No funeral services will be held at this time. McDonald Funeral Home in Prophetstown handled arrangements.
