PROPHETSTOWN – Phyllis Eileen Lofgren, 91, of Prophetstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society – Prophets Riverview in Prophetstown.

Phyllis was born Feb. 16, 1923, in Loraine Township in Henry County, the daughter of Forrest and Esther (Sippel) Heller. She married Fred H. Lofgren on Sept. 4, 1942, in Loraine Township. He preceded her in death in November 1977. Phyllis was employed as a school bus driver, and a cook for the schools and nursing home. She also baked wedding cakes. She was a member of Prophetstown United Methodist Church, a member of the O.E.S. Minerva Chapter 6 in Prophetstown, and a past Worthy Matron.

Survivors include one daughter, Jane (Michael) Pierpoint of Puebla, Mexico; one brother, George (Dorothy) Heller of Prophetstown; two grandchildren, Ruth Sanford of Seattle, and Andrew Crofton of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and three great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Carol Lofgren.  

A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Leon Cemetery in Prophetstown, with the Rev. Cheri Stewart, pastor of Prophetstown United Methodist Church, officiating. A memorial service will be at a later date. McDonald Funeral Homes is handling arrangements.
