PROPHETSTOWN – Ernest “Ernie“ Waldbusser, 98, of Prophetstown, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society – Prophets Riverview in Prophetstown. He had farmed for 42 years. Ernie was born May 29, 1916, in Deer Creek, the son of Fred and Anna (Hacker) Waldbusser. He married Florence Dorathy on Feb. 5, 1938, in Davenport, Iowa. Ernie was a member of Leon United Methodist Church in Prophetstown.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Jana (Neil) Oppendike of Prophetstown; one son, Gary Waldbusser of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Burgess and Dorothy Knapp; and five brothers, William, Frederick "Fritz," Robert, Alfred, and Henry Waldbusser.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, and the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown, with Gale Brandner, pastor of Leon United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown.

A memorial has been established to Leon United Methodist Church.
