AVIS J. HORTON, 84, DIES ON FEBRUARY 7TH

J. Horton, 84, of Sterling, died Saturday, February 7, 2015.

Avis was born on December 12, 1930 in Yorktown Township, the daughter of Horace and Esther (Hanson) Landwehr. She married Curtis Horton on February 14, 1972. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1995.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandy (Jeff) Cantrell Hoos; three sons, John (Nancy) Cantrell, of Franklin, NC, , Clay (Kathleen) Cantrell, of North Richland TX, and Rod (Gina) Cantrell, of Washington, NC; one sister, Lenore Reiley, of Prophetstown; one brother, Orville (Loretta) Landwehr, of Sheffield; step-children, Rick Horton, Bethany (Horton) Wampler, and Lee (Jim) Horton Giltjes; 13 grandchildren; 13 great=grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Horton, her parents, two sisters, Verda Milnes, and Lavone Cedererg; and one brother, Irvin Landwehr.

Funeral services were held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling, with Pastor Jeff Coester, of The Big Red Church, officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Burial was held at Oak Knoll Cemetery, Sterling.

A memorial has been established.
