Ruth Alaine (Bernhardy) Frary passed away on august 4th, 2014 in Franklin, TN.

Ruth was born June 29, 1928 the daughter o Willard and Marry (Melton) Bernhardy in Minonk, IL. She also lived in Chenoa and moved to Lyndon, IL in 1939. Ruth was raised in Lyndon as one of two children.

After graduating from Lyndon High School, Ruth worked as a secretary at Eclipse Lawnmower Company in Propehtstown, IL. She married Donald (Don) Edgar Frary on August 11, 1951. She and Don had four children.

She was a lifelong member of Prophetstown United Methodist Church, and sang in the choir for many years. She also worked at Frary and Sons Lumber and Grain Company. Ruth enjoyed playing golf at Prophet Hills Country Club, even achieving a hole in one!

Her husband, Don, preceded her in death in 2000. Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents, sister Kay Mulcay, and one grandson Jonathan Frary. She is survived by sons Greg (Linda Haggenjos) Frary of Peoria, IL, Kevin Frary of Fair Oaks, CA, Marty (Ronda Thicksten) Frary of Louisville, Co, daughter Kay (Gene) Matthews of Franklin, TN, two granddaughters, Sarah (Brett) Alkire, and Lauren Matthews, four grandsons, Matthew (Jenny) Frary, Daniel (Aubray) Frary, Aaron Frary and Ian Matthews along with seven great grandchildren, Brock, Natalie, Brett and Bryce Alkire, and Jace, Sander and Kera Frary. Family members also include many nieces and nephews. She also has several great nieces and great nephews.

Ruth said, “Tell everybody I have had a great lie. . .who could as for anything more?” A wish for after her death stated, “If y chance you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed to someone who needs you.”

A memorial service is being planned for a later date in Prophetstown, IL. Memorials may be made to the Prophetstown Main St. Association, Propehtstown United Methodist Church, or Franklin First United Methodist Church Building Fund, Franklin, TN. [photo]
