Tampico - Alma R. “Amy” McElhiney, age 90, formerly of Tampico, Illinois, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at her home in Sterling, Illinois. 
Amy was born August 19, 1924 in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence and Ida (Walkington) Caldwell. She was united in marriage to Lloyd McElhiney on July 2, 1944 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2006. Amy and Lloyd operated Ronald Reagan’s Birthplace in Tampico for many years. 
She will be dearly missed by one son, Steve McElhiney of Rock Falls, Illinois, one daughter, Beth Brondas of Troy, Virginia, 6 grandchildren, Jennifer (Adrian Pearson) Staples of Sterling, Amanda (Nathan) Boettner of Forreston, Illinois, Jaleigh (Dustin) Smith of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Gary McElhiney of Tampico, Greg McElhiney of Sterling and Wendy (Terry) Scholl of Argyle, Wisconsin, 11 great-grandchildren.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lloyd and one son, Todd.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico with Rev. Leanne Keate, pastor of the Tampico United Methodist Church, officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her name to Gaffey Hospice.
