PROPHETSTOWN – Terry Lee Blackert, 92, of Prophetstown, died Friday, March 17, 2017, at her home.

 

Terry was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Hannaman Township to Clyde and Mildred L. (Frank) Denison. She was educated in the Tampico grade and high schools, and the beauty school in Sterling. She married George L. Blackert Jr. on Oct. 3, 1949, in Prophetstown. Terry was a homemaker, and owned and operated Terry’s Beauty Shop in Prophetstown. She was a member of Prophetstown United Methodist Church, and served as a Methodist Youth Fellowship leader and Sunday school teacher. Terry enjoyed flower gardening, oil painting, ceramics, caring for her grandchildren, boating, and camping.

Survivors include her husband, George; three grandchildren, Rod (Kim) Walker, Rhonda Walker-Reed, and Thomas (Jennifer) Hall Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Whitney and Samantha Walker, Ashley (Kalib) Reed-Calter and Cody (Olivia) Reed, and Cameron Hall; and a great-great-grandchild, Soran Ozawa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Thomas Hall Sr. and John L. Hall; three sisters, Elizabeth Elendt, Maxine Specht, and Helen Joynt; and two brothers, Bernal and Clarence Denison.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Oscar N. Carrasco, pastor of Prophetstown United Methodist Church officiating. A graveside committal service will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown.

A memorial has been established to Pat’s Table at Prophetstown United Methodist Church.
