Karen S. Burger

TAMPICO – Karen S. Burger, age 72, of Tampico, died Monday, April 29, 2019, at her home.

Karen was born on July 18, 1946, in Rock Falls, the daughter of Charles and Fern (Bruns) Tompkins. She married Lawrence Burger on July 19, 1969, in Sterling. Karen was employed at National Manufacturing for 30 years, and enjoyed gardening and loved all animals.

Survivors include her husband of Tampico; one son, Brian (Beverlee) Burger of Rock Falls; one daughter, Katy Sue Russell of Rock Falls; one brother, David Tompkins of Rock Falls; seven grandchildren, Ethan, Mercedes, Samantha, Austin, Charitee, Jaylynn, and Charles; and one great-grandchild, Kamdyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Debra Burger; one brother, Donald “Butch” Tompkins; and two sisters, Kay Walter and Patricia Miller.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 1, 2019, from 5-7 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 2, 2019, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial will be at Tampico Memorial Cemetery.
